Tekir, Özlem (Balikesir Author) ; Background: In Turkey, which is a secular, democratic nation with a majority Muslim population, euthanasia is illegal and regarded as murder. Nurses and students can be faced with ethical dilemmas and a lack of a legal basis, with a conflict of religious beliefs and social and cultural values concerning euthanasia. The aim of this study was to investigate undergraduate nursing students' attitudes towards euthanasia. Method: The study, which had a descriptive design, was conducted with 600 students. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year nursing students at a school of nursing were contacted in May 2009, and 383 students (63.8% of the study population of a total of 600 students) gave informed consent. Two tools were used in accordance with questionnaire preparation rules. Results: The majority of students were female and single (96.9%), and their mean age was 21.3 +/- 1.5 years. A majority (78.9%) stated they had received no training course/education on the concept of euthanasia. Nearly one-third (32.4%) of the students were against euthanasia; 14.3% of the students in the study agreed that if their relatives had an irreversible, lethal condition, passive euthanasia could be performed. In addition, 24.8% of the students agreed that if they themselves had an irreversible, lethal condition, passive euthanasia could be performed. Less than half (42.5%) of the students thought that discussions about euthanasia could be useful. There was a significant relation between the study year and being against euthanasia (p < 0.05), the idea that euthanasia could be abused (p < 0.05), and the idea that euthanasia was unethical (p < 0.05). Conclusion: It was concluded that the lack of legal regulations, ethical considerations, religious beliefs, and work experience with dying patients affect nursing students' attitudes towards euthanasia.

ABSTRACT
Confidence and competency with medication mathematics is imperative yet challenging for many in higher education with regard to the nursing profession. The researchers seek to understand if there is there a difference between the course grades of baccalaureate nursing students based upon the instructional methods of fully face-to-face as compared to fully online self-directed mathematic instruction. Grounded in a self-efficacy theoretical framework, self-directed learning (SDL) techniques were explored in this research piece as well as valuable faculty feedback as it relates to the SDL module. The results indicated that students were more successful with SDL or online mathematic instruction, in addition faculty scored the students as more confident in post mathematical education.

Objective: to identify the graduate design of the last period of a nursing course on the mobilization of leadership in professional nursing practice. Method: descriptive qualitative study with semi-structured interview, held in private College of Curitiba-PR. Six nursing students participated. Results: through the Bardin Content analysis we identified the following categories: features needed for a nurse leader; limiting factors for nursing leadership; and recognition of leadership styles. Conclusions: Although the statements of the students corroborate the literature and show that they have a critical profile with relevant thoughts about the theoretical content on the theme in question, which probably was approached during graduation, the lack of experience in the world of work leads to naive perceptions of leadership in working life.
Promoting breastfeeding is important work for health-care personnel in the Swedish context. This promotion is multifaceted and demands the ongoing development of knowledge and competence among both health-care personnel and patients. The aim of the present study was to describe the nursing students' perspectives on breastfeeding in Sweden. Data were obtained in the form of written reflections from nursing students (n=65) and examined using manifest content analysis. The results show that the factors of importance in promoting successful breastfeeding are information about breastfeeding's benefits, traditions and cultural acceptance of the practice, and by government prohibition of infant formula. We conclude that knowledge about the benefits of breastfeeding needs to be prioritized continuously during education. ; PRO-CARE
